Latest News! provisional calendar 2009   Cycling on the island of Curacao has matured into a fully fledged sport over the last 10 years. A few years ago bike races attracted no more than 20 riders, though nowadays the pelotons amass more than 100 riders. Mountain biking has also grown enormously in popularity in recent years, both recreational rides and races. Children have not been left out of the fun either. There are many popular clubs to join with and races being held all year round. Well known to tourists for its sunny beaches, Curacao has also become a destination for cyclists looking for new adventures. One of the prominent biking promoters on our island is Leo van Vliet, who also organizes the annual Pro-Am Amstel Curaçao Race, which is sponsored by Lions Dive & Beach Resort. This race attracts some of the top cyclists in the world, including many of the main riders from the Tour de France, and is a great way for them to end their racing year, with some even choosing to end their cycling careers with this race. In the first week of November amateurs and recreational cyclists also find their way to Curacao for this event. One of the well known visitors to our Dushi Korsou (sweet Curacao) is Olympic Mountain Bike Champion Bart Brentjens, who is an ambassador for mountain biking for the Island. He initiated the UCI mountain bike World Cup race that opened the international 2006 XC competition season. He oversaw the creation of the outstanding trails behind the Lions Dive & Beach Resort that still exist today, offering all riders c an to find their challenge. Our goal is to keep you informed about everything that has to do with cycling and biking on Curacao and in the region. Results of road bike, mountain bike and kids races will be posted as soon as possible. If you are on Curacao for vacation or business and you would like to keep up your bike training, the island has many clubs you can ride with and you can also book mountain bike tours.
